How it works

Less searching.
More knowing who fits.

We start with the household, not a stack of CVs.

House of Yaya helps define the role, searches within its specialist network and introduces candidates whose experience and expectations make sense for the position. You meet them. You decide who feels right.

The House of Yaya approach

A CV can tell you where someone worked. Not how they'll feel in your home.

Experience matters. But private household recruitment is unusually personal.

Working style, communication, expectations, children's personalities, the pace of the home and whether people genuinely click can determine whether a placement lasts.

Our process is designed to understand both sides before an introduction is made.

For families

From “we need help”
to the right introduction.

You don't need to arrive with a perfect job description. We can help turn the reality of your week into a clearer brief.

01

Tell us how life actually works.

Children, household, hours, location, responsibilities, live-in or live-out, travel, cooking and the parts of the week where support would make the biggest difference.

02

We shape the role.

We clarify what is realistic and whether you need a nanny, nanny-housekeeper, housekeeper, temporary support or another household role.

03

We search for fit.

We look within the relevant candidate network for people whose actual experience, availability and expectations align with the brief.

04

You review the introductions.

Rather than treating every available CV as a match, the aim is to make introductions with a reason behind them.

05

You meet.

Interviews are where the human part becomes clearer. Ask about routines, experience and expectations — and notice whether conversation feels natural.

06

You choose.

The family makes the hiring decision. Once a placement is agreed, the final employment arrangements, checks and documentation should follow the agency's current process and applicable requirements.

The bit you can't automate

Sometimes the strongest CV isn't the strongest match.

And sometimes the person you didn't expect is the one everyone immediately relaxes around.

That doesn't mean experience is unimportant. It means recruitment is both evidence and relationship.

We want families to meet candidates with the right foundations, then make their own judgement about the connection.

Checks & references

Know what has been checked — and what still needs to happen.

Identity & right to work

The production site should state exactly which identity and right-to-work checks House of Yaya completes or verifies, and at what stage.

References & background checks

Reference and background-check wording should mirror the agency's real process, including anything families complete directly themselves.

Role-specific documents

Driving, travel, DBS or other documents may be relevant to particular roles. The final site should avoid implying that every document applies to every candidate.

Two sides of a good placement

The process should work for candidates too.

For families

Be clear about hours, duties, salary, accommodation, travel, evenings and what a normal day actually involves. Good candidates are choosing a household as much as a household is choosing them.

For candidates

Tell us what you have genuinely done, what kind of role you want next, your availability and the working arrangements that suit you. A good match starts with honest expectations on both sides.

After the introduction

The placement isn't just a start date.

Clear expectations before somebody begins can prevent a lot of problems afterwards.

Hours, duties, salary, breaks, holiday, notice, accommodation where relevant, travel expectations and employment documentation should be agreed properly between employer and employee.

The developer should connect this section to House of Yaya's actual post-placement support, guarantee/replacement terms and current Terms of Service once those have been verified.

Before you begin

How it works FAQs.

Do we need to know exactly which role we need?

No. Start with the schedule, responsibilities and problem you are trying to solve. House of Yaya can help structure the brief before the candidate search begins.

Will we be able to interview candidates ourselves?

Yes — the family should meet and assess potential candidates before making its hiring decision. Final interview format and process should reflect House of Yaya's current service terms.

Do you complete references and checks?

The final published wording should describe House of Yaya's exact current vetting process. Different checks can occur at different stages, and families may also undertake their own employment checks and references.

Who employs the nanny or housekeeper?

The final site should state the employment model for each service accurately. For direct household employment, the family should understand its employer responsibilities and obtain appropriate payroll/employment advice where needed.

What happens if a placement doesn't work out?

House of Yaya's current replacement, guarantee and refund terms should be linked here once verified against the live Terms of Service.
